For the 2018 Vans gift guide, we decided to take a non-traditional route.  We created an HTML5 Canvas based video game with 16bit graphics that could be played on desktop and mobile within the same code base.  It would be live throughout the holiday and then live on through the rest fo the year.  The game would call out certain items that Steve Van Doren could pick up to give as gifts to his friends at the finish.

When the user finished the game, they could enter their initials and then enter for a chance to win the game in arcade cabinet form.  We created 6 fully functioning arcade cabinets that were later given away for the Vans Family loyalty program.

Below the game would be the products that we were highlighting for the gift guide, but they were not the focus of the experience.

After the creation of the game, we decided to take it one step further.  We placed 2 iPads inside a store in New York that people could place while others shopped. We then placed 3 of the arcade cabinets in stores in New York and Chicago.
